Narek Martirosyan

Curriculum Director, Academy of Cleveland Ballet

Narek Martirosyan is a dedicated ballet instructor and principal dancer with more than two decades of professional stage experience and over 10 years of teaching expertise. Trained at the Yerevan State Choreographic College in the Vaganova method, Narek has performed as a principal dancer with renowned companies including the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Armenia, the Israel Ballet, New Jersey Ballet, and currently, Cleveland Ballet. His career has also taken him across Russia and beyond, giving him a rich international perspective that he brings into the studio.

As a teacher, Narek is passionate about sharing both the artistry and discipline of ballet. He has coached dancers who have gone on to win awards at some of the world’s most respected competitions, including Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), the USA International Ballet Competition (USIBC), and the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition (VKIBC). In addition to classical training, he is also an accomplished choreographer, with contemporary and neoclassical works presented at YAGP, USIBC, and VKIBC.

At the Academy, Narek teaches classical ballet, pas de deux, and performance coaching, always tailoring his approach to help each student grow both technically and artistically. He integrates injury-prevention strategies and cross-training into his teaching, believing that strong, healthy dancers are best equipped for long and successful careers. His students describe him as both challenging and supportive — a mentor who pushes them to achieve their highest potential while encouraging their individual artistry.
