While the exhibit In Vino Veritas (In Wine, Truth) celebrates the presence and meaning of wine in prints, drawings, textiles, and objects, Cleveland Ballet interprets the subject in movement with Walpurgisnacht.

In the spirit of In Vino Veritas, join Cleveland Ballet for a glass of wine before the performance at 6:00PM outside of Gartner Auditorium. At 6:20PM, Emily Peters, the curator of In Vino Veritas, joins Artistic Director, Timour Bourtasenkov, for a Behind the Curtain artist talk to share insights into the performance.
The performance features Walpurgisnacht, a celebration on the eve of May Day (April 30), which marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. The night known for its debauchery involves celebrations as well as rituals and bonfires to ward off evil spirits. Although the ballet does not directly depict Walpurgis Night, it does build on a sense of joyful revelry.
The celebration continues with two additional pieces:

Picnic
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's dances for piano and violin played live by
Ralitsa Georgieva-Smith (piano)
Masha Andreini (violin)
Choreographed by Artistic Director Timour Bourtasenkov

Dance of the Toreadors from Don Quixote
Tickets start at $35 for non-members or $32 for Cleveland Museum of Art Members.
